Lucille’s 5 Tips & Tricks For Going Outdoors

1.
Go outside first
This sounds strange, but really. If you doubt if this is a good moment for a short walk, put your shoes on and maybe a coat. Go outside and close the door. Then decide if this is a good idea.
If you are outside the house, your body & mind will certainly agree with this being an excellent idea!

2.
Find a soulmate
This can be anybody in your neighbourhood or a digital friend. Make an appointment to go outside, and keep each other to this promise.

3.
Listen to an audiobook
Yes I know, being outside and enjoying the sounds of nature, is an important combination. But if you need an extra motivation, an audiobook can help.
Books are designed to keep the reader in the story. If you promise yourself you will only listen to the audiobook while being outside, you have to get out of the house to know how the chapter or the story ends. This can be a great help to start being outdoors again.

4.
Feel your body while being outside
Be aware of the joy it brings to you to be outside. And remember this next time you are in doubt if leaving your comfortable home is a good idea.

5.
Reward yourself
Yes, being outside is a reward in itself. But it can help to indulge yourself in a nice shower or a relaxing cup of tea when you are home. This gives you extra time to reflect what being outdoors means to you. This way you can feed the loop and make it easier to leave the house next time.
